I'll be including up-to-date pictures in the next blog, now thanks to an employee in Kaufhoff department store in Munich who showed me why my new battery recharger (for my camera) wasn't recharging. It's because, I didn't take out the plastic strip between the batteries and the points on the charger.

On the way back from Salzburg on the slow train, I chose to sit in a compartment where there were just six seats. It didn't seem to be any different than the rest of the train, except for that. And earlier in the morning, I declared today to be a jolly, highly productive day!

So at every little stop, people would get on and no one would come to sit with me. I thought: I and the compartment must be being invisible! Then just over the German border two young girls in their twenties looked into my compartment and I motioned for them to come in. They came in happily, and I soon discovered that Samantha, a native German had just met Shia, from Israel, who was so happy to finally find an English speaking young person. A few stops later, I motioned for another young German to join us, and together we talked and shared about our travels and how we love to help each other on our journeys.

Just before we pulled into Munich station, a train porter stepped in very authoritatively, I felt a shiver and I knew something was up. He asked each of us for our tickets...but, Why? I thought. As he looked at Samantha's student pass, he gave a disapproving look. Then he looked at mine and he was totally disgusted! Samantha translated that we were sitting in FIRST CLASS! And he, righteously told us to move out immediately. We had just inches to go before pulling into Munich.

Funny the first train porter in Salzburg who checked my ticket, said nothing to me.

It was tempting to feel guilty and bad for having made such an error. That's what I would have done in the past. I turned out to feel like Mae West. The girls were all feeling fine about it. After all, no one was sitting in the First Class!
