RUDI,THE SAMBA PLAYER
ECSTATIC SAMBA PLAYERSROBIN ARRIVED! SHE JUMPED THE POND!
Maybe you've been wondering where have I been in the last few days, since there haven't been any new entries. On Monday, I met Robin who flew in from Houston, to join me on this journey.
Subways...sometimes I have an experience of the past in subways. It feels like gloom and other things. I had it, on the way to the airport. The central station where I switched trains...there are so many sublevels and I get dizzy with all the signs and figuring out...do I go this way or that...
I'm not interested in understanding what comes over me in these moments...I jumped out a station early, and rose to ground level, to walk and shake out all of the negative stuff...poured on some Joy oil, then descended at the next station, jumped into the train to the airport, while reading "The DaVinci Code". I became so absorbed and relaxed and arrived exactly at the time I intended. Robin's flight arrived on time, too.
And there she was, a week later after she had dropped me off at the airport along with my family. I say the angels sent Robin to me, to help provide the supports for the next leg of the journey. Who she is for me, is delighted about life..she often speaks about the Buddhist teaching of mindfulness,'paying attention in every moment'.
Robin is also a guide for many young people. She helped about 60 young people create a new 'being' in their lives, and most of them took the Landmark Forum for Young People. I find that Robin, as well as the other people intimately connected to me, saying things that could only come from the angels. And I find myself delightfully stunned and in awe of the messages that all these angel messengers bring to me.
On the way home, another woman,a translator, asked us if she could help us find our way. This happens a lot.
This is Robin's first time in Germany. She hasn't a clue about the language and yet she does. It's so much fun to watch how we cause our journey to unfold, being engaged with a world of multiple languages.
It was 8:00pm and still very much light outside and Robin was ready for a bike ride, so we rode down to the river Isa. As we turned off the main winding road, beside a beer garden, I knew we were close, and being in the forests, with so many wonderful paths, I asked for help from the angels...and a couple who could barely utter English answered my inquiry and bent over backwards to walk us down the paths, past the Schreibergartens (the little patches of gardens with a little hobbit house on each patch.) We felt lost again, and the couple reappeared to show us further along, than another young girl took over to lead us to the paths along the river, where the zoo is. From here I knew my way. It was plenty dark by then and we didn't have bike lights. I remembered the telling of how people gathered around campfires through the night and something told me we would have all the light we needed.
There were people everywhere...on their bikes ( many with bike lights) and up and down the beaches, gathered around campfires. In the distance we heard the drumming, compelling us to follow it, down the dark path. As I heard other cyclists coming near, I rang my little bell and greeted with, "Hello!" so they would know that we were in physical form. The sound of drumming was actually about 30 people lined up in rows with their different rythm instruments, led by a conductor with her whistle (Brazilian samba style). It was ecstatic...the sound of so many drums...brazilian and african, bells, whistles, tamborines...and everything in unison, directed by the whistle blowing conductor. (I thought to myself...these are some of the sounds that will happen at The Jewel in Spain) I felt the joy and playfulness surging within me.
I sat next to a man(a very energetically handsome man!)and realized that I had arrived to meet the first man with whom his energy closely matched mine.
Rudy explained to us that their Samba group played for different festivals around Europe and this night was the last time they were playing together for the summer.

As though we hadn't had enough fun, we wandered back to the road to a beer garden and there I sipped half a beer,of Robin's. Robin made fun of me...as we walked back to the bikes.."are you doing a little sauntering?"
We rode back to Gina's flat in the midnight.
