WHOOPS, CRACKED A MIRROR! RIBBET!
It’s been a while since I last wrote about my adventure, and as one can imagine, much has happened. So I am backing up about a week from today, Aug. 28th, to catch you up. I feel I am in a time warp, and as I feel this, I also feel it doesn't matter. I feel like letting go of control. I sit here in a VW repair shop, writing these next entries, while the employees have made me comfortable at one of their desks with the best chair and a cup of coffee.
So one thing is getting acculturated…comfortable with the culture. I’m not talking about the people. I’m talking about getting comfortable with the surroundings that were created by people. In addition this month of August is particularly full of delays, so my astrologer tells me.
I realize that I am not only learning to be comfortable with the campervan, but with the whole new energy of Munich when I am a driver. And I must say, the people on the road are gentle and very accommodating. And still, what makes Munich beautiful …it’s curvy , windy streets and so much beautiful growth, at the same time seems confusing to me to find my way. I am used to Houston, where you can see several miles ahead of you and see the skyscraper and know your bearings.
So two weekends ago, I took the Prince out on another drive on the route that Gina and I traveled, past the zoo. And suddenly I decided to go straight instead of right because I wanted just to turn around and come back. I was suddenly in a narrow street with cars parked on both sides and traffic coming my way. Suddendly the Prince felt so big, a boom!!! Was the sound I heard. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw that the Prince had a black eye…the right mirror was cracked. I hit a post.
My emotions were all over the place, and I told myself I’ve got to get to a better feeling place. So I took out my trusty drawing pad and my oil pastels, and drew a picture of frog princess sitting on the dashboard, with the alarming sounds bouncing through her, and she is saying, “Gee , now I know I really have nerves! Yahoo!” I laughed a lot and felt better.
So the Prince went back to the shop for the mirror repair.
